‘Dark Knight’ star Christian Bale buries ‘Justice League’ rumors

Fans waiting to see “Dark Knight” trilogy star Christian Bale don the cape and cowl as Batman one more time in the upcoming “Justice League” are about to be disappointed.

Despite initially saying that 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises” would be his last appearance as the Caped Crusader, rumors have persisted that the star will join the DC Comics superhero team-up once it finally hits the big screen.

When EW.com asked if he would appear in “Justice League,” Bale shook his head saying, “It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

In fact, Bale says he doesn’t know anything about what the studio is planning for the film. “I have no information, no knowledge about anything,” he admitted. “I”ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a ‘Justice League’ movie, that”s it.”

Warner Bros.’ “Justice League” has been moving forward in fits and starts, with numerous rumors surrounding it. For now, essentially all we know for sure is that it will feature Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and other heroes working together. Henry Cavill will likely reprise his role as Superman from “Man of Steel,” while the other cast members are yet to be revealed.

Bale is content with his legacy as Batman. “We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three,” he said. “That”s enough. Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We”re about to make the third.” We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”

Bale will next be seen in Scott Cooper’s “Out of the Furnace” and David O. Russell’s “American Hustle,” as well as two films from director Terrence Malick.
