Disney Breaks Ground on ‘Star Wars’-themed parks

A short time from now
In a galaxy not too far, far away…

The much anticipated Star Wars-themed sections of Disneyland and Disney World are one step closer to reality as the company announced today that they”ve broken ground on the futuristic areas of the theme parks.

While the sites currently look more like Tatooine than the Death Star, when they”re done with the 14-acre facilities, visitors (droid or otherwise) will get to experience the Millennium Falcon among numerous other attractions. Disney describes the park section as their “largest single themed land expansion ever.”

When Disney chief Bob Iger announced their plans in August 2015, he said, “These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”

The opening date is not yet set. But for those curious about the progress, Disney has posted a 360-degree image on their blog.
