Exclusive clips: Icons Diahann Carroll and Berry Gordy dish for Oprah

Oprah Winfrey may have retired from her self-titled talk show after 25 years, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t pulling in the star power over at her OWN network. “Oprah’s Master Class” (airing Sundays) features stars hand-picked by Oprah to share the lessons they’ve learned along the way, as well as their successes, failures, triumphs, disappointments and heartbreaks.

As you might expect, stars Diahann Carroll (best known for breaking the color barrier as the first African-American woman to headline her own sitcom) and Berry Gordy (the music mastermind behind stars like the Jackson 5 and Smokey Robinson) have plenty to share. The stars’ “Master Class” specials air this Sunday (Gordy at 9:00 p.m. ET; Carroll at 10:00 p.m. ET), and on the show Gordy talks about his love affair with Diana Ross, behind-the-scenes stories and rough times in Detroit. Carroll discusses her breast cancer diagnosis, enduring prejudice, and her stint on the nighttime soap “Dynasty.”

In these HitFix exclusive clips, Carroll discusses the best review she ever received, while Gordy dishes on the “drug” music he fought not to release (but did anyway).
