Exclusive: Is it a gator or the elusive ‘Parlangua’ in new ‘Beasts of the Bayou’ clip?

Forget sharks (not really, but just try not to think about how cool they are for just a minute).

Discovery Channel wants you to wants to instead turn your awestruck eyes on the mysterious “Beasts of the Bayou.”

We have an exclusive clip from the series' second episode which airs tonight.

Featuring some familiar faces from last year's Shark Week special “Voodoo Sharks,” “Beasts” follows Captain Blimp Cheramie, his first mate Eric and his nephew Nathan, as they traverse the Louisiana swampland for some mythological creatures rumored to be haunting the Cajun bayou.

Episode 2 finds them on the trail of the deadly “Parlangua,” described in the press release as “a half-man, half-reptilian gator” who, legend has it, pulled a driver from his car and devoured him in the 1960s.

As you'll see in the cip at the top of the page, herpetologist Shawn Heflick aims to prove that recent rumors of the creature are really just the result of an increase in sightings of regular ol' alligators. It's all in the eyes.

The episode airs tonight at 10 PM ET/PT on Discovery.
