Fall Out Boy Patrick Stump’s Title Wave

Chicago rockers Fall Out Boy are known not only for their punchy, clever songs but for some of the most amusing song titles in music. Often, the titles bear no resemblance whatsoever to the tunes, such as “Headfirst Slide in Cooperstown on a Bad Bet” from the group’s brand new CD, “Folie A Deux.” The song has absolutely nothing to do with baseball and everything to do with infidelity. Other keepers include “A Little Less 16 Candles, A Little More Touch Me,” “I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got was This Stupid Song Written About Me,” and “I’m Like a Lawyer the Way I’m Always Trying to Get You Off.”

But FOB lead singer Patrick Vaughn Stump tells Hitfix that his all-time favorite title has never seen the light of day. “We had a song called ‘I Liked You A Lot Better Before You Became a F****** MySpace Whore.’ It was pretty great,” he says. “As a title I really liked it; it just didn’t work [with the other material] we were working on at the time. I so wish, in retrospect, we’d used it because at the time, it was such a great commentary. But it was one of those things where sometimes you give it a year and it doesn’t mean the same thing.”
