First Look: The CW’s new ‘Arrow’ broods in a Colleen Atwood costume

Most pilots are produced without any images going public, but following in the footsteps of last spring’s [largely maligned] first promo image for “Wonder Woman,” Warner Brothers TV has released our first glimpse from The CW’s “Arrow” pilot.
In this snazzy pic, we see Stephen Amell in his Arrow garb. Do you like the costume? You’d darn well better, because apparently it was designed by Oscar-winning juggernaut Colleen Atwood.
“Arrow” focuses on former billionaire playboy Oliver Queen, who returns from five years on a remote island with “a mysterious agenda and a lethal set of new skills that he uses in a war on crime.”
The “Arrow” pilot is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter, with a script from Guggenheim and Kreisberg. Nutter, whose intimidating pilot-to-series perfection streak ended last spring, directed.
Nutter also has a nifty little quote accompanying the “Arrow” image.
“When I directed the pilot for ‘Smallville,’ I knew that making Clark Kent relatable would be the key to audiences believing in him as a hero,” Nutter states. “‘Arrow’ is a different show — darker and harder-edged — but it”s the same core idea. We”re creating a real, believable world in which Oliver Queen can do incredible things. Colleen Atwood’s great work on the Arrow costume reflects that effort.”
We obviously won’t discover the fate of “Arrow” until upfronts in May, but check out the pic:
