‘Flash’ star Tom Cavanagh says being Reverse Flash was what drew him to the show

Going back all the way to upfronts last May, Tom Cavanagh has been mighty coy about the secret identity of Dr. Harrison Wells.

In January at the Television Critics Association press tour, he finally came out and said point-black that Wells is, indeed, the yellow-clad Reverse Flash and it was only last week that The CW finally came out and released the first image of Cavanagh in the yellow costume.

On Saturday's (March 14) PaleyFest 2015 purple carpet for “Flash” and “Arrow,” I asked Cavanagh how long he's been keeping the secret and the answer seems to have been “The whole time.”

In fact, as Cavanagh pantomimes in the interview posted above, it was the lure of getting to play Reverse Flash that caused him to stay in the room with the “Flash” producers last pilot season.

Cavanagh also talks about the challenges of secret keeping, his hesitation to sign a non-disclosure agreement and the process of actually getting to try on his Reverse Flash suit.

Check out the full interview above and also my chat with “Flash” star Grant Gustin and my interview with “Flash”/”Arrow” EP Greg Berlanti.

“The Flash” returns to The CW tonight (March 17).
