‘Frozen Fever’: Disney to release new ‘Frozen’ short film next year

Disney just can't “Let It Go.”

“Frozen Fever,” a new animated short based on the blockbuster 2013 film, will be released in theaters next spring by Walt Disney Animation Studios, it was announced on Tuesday. The short will see “Frozen” directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck reuniting with Oscar-winning songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who are set to produce an all-new tune for the film. The official plot synopsis is as follows:

In “Frozen Fever,” it's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk.

The announcement of the new short was made during the airing of ABC special “The Story of Frozen: Making an Animated Classic,” which also included a clip from Disney's upcoming “Big Hero 6” adaptation and a sneak peek at the new season of “Once Upon a Time,” in which “Frozen” characters Anna, Elsa and Kristoff will take live-action form.
