‘Game of Thrones” Emilia Clarke joins Sam Claflin for surefire cryfest ‘Me Before You’

Daenerys Targaryen and Finnick Odair are joining forces for a new type of adventure: romance.

“Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke and “Hunger Games” actor Sam Claflin have signed on for the romantic drama “Me Before You,” an adaptation of the bestselling Jojo Moyes novel of the same name, according to Deadline. Clarke will play Lou, a small-town girl who becomes the caretaker of a man (Claflin) who has spiraled into depression after being paralyzed in an accident. The two then embark on a series of adventures together that will ultimately change them both.

The MGM project will be helmed by TV and stage director Thea Sharrock, who is making her feature directorial debut with the film. The most recent draft of the script was written by “(500) Days of Summer” scribes Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber (from an earlier draft by Moyes).

Clarke, best known for her role on “Game of Thrones,” will soon be seen as Sarah Connor in the big-screen reboot “Terminator: Genisys” opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke and Jai Courtney. Claflin, meanwhile, is set to return as Finnick Odair in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” Parts 1 and 2.
