HBO announced the premiere dates for their spring line up, which includes shows like “Vinyl,” “Girls,” and “Togetherness.” Vinyl, the 1970s-set record label drama from Martin Scorsese, will premiere February 14th, taking up both hours of HBO's Sunday night drama time slot. The following week “Girls” and “Togetherness” will air after “Vinyl,” filling out HBO's Sunday night schedule for presumably 10 weeks.
This schedule, Entertainment Weekly asserts, will push the “Game of Thrones” season six premiere date by at least two weeks, moving it from GoT's traditional premiere date of early April, to late April, either April 17 or April 24.
Why is this a big deal? If GoT's sixth season doesn't premier until late April, that means it won't finish the season until almost June, pushing it out of the typical time frame when cable and network shows wrap up their season. A shift in dates like this could effect its viewership. The “Game of Thrones” season five finale brought in 8.1 million viewers, the show's best numbers ever.
With so many cliffhangers in the season five finale, waiting an extra two weeks will be torture. We have to know what happened to Jon, right?
