The ‘Guardians Vol. 2’ Lego Treatment Will Prompt All The Obligatory ‘Hooked On A Feeling’ Jokes

The long, lazy, and somewhat insufferable Thanksgiving weekend has arrived with little genuine trade news, but fortunately, Lego goodness is upon us from Huxley Berg, who gave the royal treatment to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 film teaser that arrived in October. And since Chris Pratt starred in The Lego Movie, the effect feels extra special.

There’s a still-lengthy wait for this installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the sequel won’t hit theaters until May 5, 2017. But sure enough, the original teaser arrived to the tune of Blue Swede’s “Hooked On A Feelin,'” and this Lego version is happy to keep the obligatory jokes alive. There’s plenty to be said about consistency, especially when a gimmick worked so well, but will that feeling translate into equally marvelous box-office receipts?

For the sequel, all of the old faves shall return, including Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Vin Diesel as Groot, Dave Bautista as Drax, and — of course — Bradley Cooper as Rocket Racoon. Kurt Russell will play Star-Lord’s dad, though it may be a one-off performance, so viewers would do well to soak up that nostalgia while they can.

Is the Lego version of the teaser better than the original? Do judge.
