IFC Films has acquired the international distribution rights to “Dead Snow,” the film known around Sundance as The Nazi-Zombie Movie.
Written and directed by Tommy Wirkola, “Dead Snow” focuses on a group of medical students who go on a holiday in the Norwegian mountains, only to find themselves in an area filled with Nazis who went into hiding only to return as, well, zombies.
The film stars Vegar Hoel, Stig Frode Henriksen and Charlotte Froegner. The film was produced by Tomas Evjen, Ankjetil Omberg and Terje Stromstad.
“We are thrilled to work with Tommy and our friends at Elle Driver on this unique film,” says IFC Entertainment President Jonathan Sehring. “Tommy is a talented new filmmaker in world cinema and we look forward to helping introduce him to U.S. audiences.”
IFC hopes to release “Dead Snow” in 2009.
“We are very excited to be working with IFC Films and the other international distributors on the release of this highly entertaining genre bending film,” say Adeline Fontan Tessaur and Eva Diederix of Elle Driver. “We can’t wait for audiences around the world to have the opportunity to see it and share in the fun!”
