Stefanie Scott’s ‘Insidious 3’ character isn’t just ‘a girl in a bra’

Does Stefanie Scott believe in ghosts? While the “Insidious: Chapter 3” star wouldn't say it outright (“I believe in something,” she told me), she did claim that a psychic “connected me me with people on the other side” prior to filming her role in the Leigh Whannell-directed horror prequel.

“[It] was so intense,” she told me, before adding: “Yeah, I think that's the closest I've come to meeting a ghost.”

In the film Scott plays Quinn Brenner, a teenage girl being targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity that lives in a spiritual realm called The Further. The actress told me she appreciated how the film didn't depict Quinn as “just a teenage sex symbol,” a trope she feels is relied on too often by Hollywood.

For more from Scott, including what she would say to people who are skeptical of the upcoming live-action “Jem and the Holograms” update (in which she stars as Kimber), click on the video above for the full interview.

“Insidious: Chapter 3” hits theaters June 5.
