Interview: ‘Vampire Diaries’ star Nina Dobrev talks Delena ‘rollercoaster’

I had a chance to talk to Nina Dobrev prior to the panel for “The Vampire Diaries” at PaleyFest, and while we're both sad that Katherine's gone, she's glad the bad girl vampire got a send-off worthy of her character arc. I also asked her about that “toxic” Delena relationship (not my words –that was on the show, people!), and she weighed in. In short, buckle in. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Dobrev admitted to me she's sad to see Katherine go, and discussed how much fun it was to create a character so different from Elena. She's pretty confident that dragging-to-hell thing is going to stick, too, so don't hold your breath waiting for a doppleganger comeback. Still, she thinks that Elena has some weighty, nuanced challenges ahead as she grapples with her feelings for Damon and comes more fully into her adulthood (even if she'll always look like a high school student). Blame it on moisturizer and a healthy diet, Elena. All the celebrities do.

Are you watching “The Vampire Diaries” (Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW)?
