As if there was ever any doubt, Lindsay Lohan is no longer a movie star.

After amazing success with a series of films that began with “Freaky Friday” and peaked with “Mean Girls,” Lohan’s latest theatrical production, “Labor Pains,” is completely avoiding the multiplex and going straight to cable TV.   Variety reports “Pains” will ABC Family will air the picture over the summer with distributor Nu Image releasing it on DVD in August shortly after its cable run.

The comedy finds Lohan playing a woman who fakes a pregnancy to keep her job only to discover she needs to keep up the farce for all three trimesters.  Lohan’s co-stars, Chris Parnell, Cheryl Hines and Janeane Garofalo, will have to suffer alongside the paparazzi favorite with the direct to TV diss.

No one should be surprised by the picture’s fate, however.  Lohan’s tabloid driven personal antics and the box office performance of her last studio film, 2007’s disastrous “I Know Who Killed Me,” has destroyed her reputation in Hollywood.  At this point, she’s been reduced to stunt casting on TV shows such as “Ugly Betty” and even that work may be hard to come by now.

Bizarrely, the trade reports a source saying one of the film’s producers is trying to raise funds to strike prints and ads for a small theatrical window.  “Pains” has an astounding 16 producers to its credit, so Boaz Davidson, Danny Dimbort, Brian Edwards, Joe Gatta, Joy Goodwin, Warren T. Goz, David Grace, Lati Grobman, Pamela Hirsch, Avi Lerner, Stewart McMichael, Liana Nikolic, Susan Pusateri, Celine Rattay, Rick Schwartz or Trevor Short?  Do yourself a favor and save your money.  You have a better chance at recouping your investment on home video and internationally.
