The Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato have signed back on for the sequel to the smash-hit Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam” boasts of a new director — Paul Hoen (“Jump In!”) — and writers — Dan Berendsen (“Hannah Montana The Movie”), Karin Gist and Regina Hicks (“Jump In!”).
The new movie has the plot set back at the same camp, though a rival rockin’ camp, Camp Star, threatens Camp Rock’s dominance to a duel of talent. A little of Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet” is thrown in for good measure, when Camp Rock’s Nate (Nick Jonas) falls for the rival camp’s star, Dana (played by 17-year-old pianist Chloe Bridges).
Other “Final Jam” cast members include hip-hop pop performer Matthew “Mdot” Finley and returning actors Meaghan Jette Martin, Maria Canals-Barrera, Alyson Stoner and Daniel Fathers.
The first “Camp Rock” movie, released last year, is the channel’s second-biggest hit, behind only global phenomenon “High School Musical.”
