Josh Brolin agrees that Thanos is a bad motherf*#%&er

During a sit down interview with Josh Brolin about his upcoming thriller “Inherent Vice,” talk naturally took an eventually turn to Marvel, and Brolin”s role as Thanos.

First cast after Thanos”s reveal in “The Avengers” stinger, Brolin was approached by his long time friend about playing the evil overlord for “Guardians of the Galaxy” and beyond.

“[Marvel Co-President] Louis D”Esposito called me…about doing this. I don”t have a thing where ‘I only do art films” or ‘I only do that.” It was just something totally different that I couldn”t imagine myself doing and that”s exactly why [I] want to do it.”

So far, Thanos has had very little screen time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the Dark Lord's presence is far-reaching. As early as “Thor,” the groundwork was being laid for the inevitable fight between Earth”s Mightiest Heroes and an Infinity Gauntlet-wearing Thanos.

The concept of being the background radiation of the series, at least through 2019″s “The Avengers: Infinity War – Part II,” was part of the appeal for Brolin.

“It”s a great trajectory of a character because it”s everyone against him, eventually.”
