Audiences are in for another “remarkable” performance from James Gandolfini, says his “Enough Said” co-star Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
“The movie was a very personal movie for him and for me, and we became quite close during the making of this film,” said Louis-Dreyfus (sitting down with me to promote the Disney animated spin-off “Planes”) of working with the actor on the forthcoming Nicole Holofcener drama. “He plays a character who’s earnest and well-meaning and kind, and sort of a little bit of a sad fellow. But dear, a dear man. And it’s really a character who’s really not far from who Jim is. And so I think people are gonna be astounded to see his performance, because it’s quite remarkable.”
Also starring Catherine Keener and Toni Collette, “Enough Said” centers on Eva (Louis-Dreyfus), a divorcee and single mother facing an empty nest whose blossoming romance with Albert (Gandolfini) hits a snag thanks to a revelation by her new massage client Marianne (Keener). The film, which is scheduled to premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, hits theaters on September 20.
Gandolfini died of a heart attack while vacationing in Rome on June 19. In addition to “Enough Said,” he’ll also be seen in the forthcoming crime drama “Animal Rescue” opposite Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace. That film is slated for release sometime next year.
