Just in time for Earth Day, we’ve got a new ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ trailer

It's no coincidence that our second look at Independence Day: Resurgence, a movie about the entire world being threatened by an(other) alien attack, comes on Earth Day. It's part of the marketing plan, as an accompanying PSA from Jeff Goldblum (in character as David Levinson) will show you.

This time around, we get a lot of more dialogue and exposition than the first trailer gave us. It looks like America is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the planet not being wiped out by aliens, with President Sela Ward patting us all on the back for using the aliens' technology to make cool new stuff. But, oops! It looks like the aliens sent out a distress signal, and it's finally getting a response. Good-bye, London! (“They like to get the landmarks,” Levinson comments as the Tower Bridge falls.)

Our only hope is, once again, Levinson and now Liam Hemsworth, who is also, conveniently, dating former President Whitmore's daughter. Will Smith also returns, but in a photograph carried by his son, who appears to have followed in his footsteps.

Independence Day: Resurgence arrives in theaters on June 24.
