If you haven’t had enough of the mannequin challenge just yet, the folks at SNL have tossed their hats in the ring. This week’s host is Kristen Wiig and she joined the rest of the cast in creating their own version of the popular meme, complete with a return for David S. Pumpkins’ skeleton bros. If David S. Pumpkins turns out to be the biggest thing SNL does this season aside from whatever they were trying to do to make up for Donald Trump, at least it’ll be a fun memory.
Also nice to see Kate McKinnon’s alien abductee return, still smoking darts and hoping to have her chest fondled. People might want more David Pumpkins, but I’d gladly take one of those abduction sketches every week.
All that said, where does this stand in comparison to the other mannequin challenges we’ve seen so far? The one from Dante with the different rings of Hell would be my choice if it existed, but it’s hard to beat the James Corden one. Then there’s the Cavs using Michelle Obama as a cheat before she leaves office and even Britney Spears got in on the action, proving that yes, she’s relevant. Personally, I like the originals you see from regular folks online. The entire party doing the challenge or the Trapped in the Closet version are better than any of these big name celebrity versions.
