Lindsay Lohan’s Liz Taylor biopic finds its Richard Burton

Lindsay Lohan has found her Richard Burton.

Following a long search, New Zealand actor Grant Bowler (“True Blood,” “Ugly Betty”) has nabbed the role of the screen legend in Lifetime’s “Liz & Dick,” an upcoming TV biopic that centers on the tumultuous romantic relationship between Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, played by Lohan. And they found him just in time – the film is slated to begin shooting in a mere 10 days.

The news was broken by Deadline.

Bowler, who originally auditioned on tape, won the part following a successful chemistry read with Lohan at the network earlier today. He can next be seen as the lead in Syfy’s upcoming series “Defiance.”

Taylor and Burton were married twice – once from 1964-74, and again from 1975-76. A seven-time Academy Award nominee (but never winner), he passed away in 1984 at the age of 58. Taylor, of course, died of congestive heart failure last year at the age of 79.

Anyone out there have an opinion on Bowler as Burton? Sound off in the comments!
