Madonna and her scandalous rump brought every part of her classic catalogue to The Late Late Show and the latest edition of Carpool Karaoke. In fact, she shook her rump and pretty much everything else, barely keeping it in the car and possibly scaring some of the pedestrians on the streets of New York. At least until they ran into son of Pizza Rat one block over.
Corden starts things off with “Vogue” before moving onto some of Madonna’s more modern offerings. There’s no “Like A Virgin” or “Shining Star,” which is a disappointment for Bullet Tooth Tony and his friends, but we do get a fun story about Madonna apparently making out with Michael Jackson. It could be a lie or something, but anything could’ve happened in those hazy eighties days.

In terms of pure singing, this isn’t a very impressive edition of Carpool Karaoke. It ranks far below Adele and Sia — the gold standard for this late night viral junk — but is still better than watching Britney Spears lumber her way through some of her old songs while James Corden carries the weight. But Madonna certainly wins out on performance. You didn’t see Adele try to grind on the car door while yelling to people and singing “Music.” If Ali G could’ve been in the back of the car, it would’ve been perfect.
