Arya Stark in talks for ‘The Walking Dead’ of YA movies

Maisie Williams, who most will know from her portrayal of the unbreakable Arya Stark on HBO”s “Game of Thrones” is in talks to join the ranks of the YA movie franchises, Variety reports. This time it”s zombie-themed, so if you have some “Walking Dead”/”Game of Thrones” mash-up fan fic lurking in your drawer, this one”s for you.

Based on Carrie Ryan”s 2009 novel of the same name, “The Forest of Hands and Teeth” tells the story of a young woman with the fate of humanity in her hands, and zombies in her trees.

According to the outlet, it is set “sometime in the future, in a world where most of the human race has been taken by a bloodthirsty virus that leaves them roaming the planet as cannibals. Mary (Williams) seeks a world beyond the fenced-off village of survivors. The survival of the human race soon becomes dependent upon her success in leading a ragtag group through the dark depths of the Forest of Hands and Teeth.”

Writer/director Kate Maberly is set to adapt the novel with Doug Liman (“Edge of Tomorrow”) producing.

“I am so incredibly excited to be stepping into the ‘Forest” and collaborating with such a brilliant creative mind as Doug”s,” Maberly said. “We can”t wait to bring Ryan”s fantastical world to life and are absolutely thrilled to have Maisie on board.”
