Meet the cast of ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ the first released set photo

The D23 Expo is in full swing and folks are getting their first look at the full cast of “Star Wars: Rogue One” which recently began filming in London.

The movie stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, Jiang Wen, and Forrest Whittaker. Lucasfilm was also kind enough to include a photo of the cast in full costume. The gritty, “lived-in” aesthetic of the original trilogy is maintained as Rogue One preps for a mission.

From the press release:

“‘Rogue One” takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe,” says Kathleen Kennedy. “It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Gareth is such an innovative director and I”m so excited to be working with him and the extraordinary ensemble cast he”s selected for ‘Rogue One.””

However, if you were hoping for some alien members (“Many Bothans died to bring us this information”), the cast currently appears 100% human…unless there's a Bothan under that mask in the back? Also, whatever affliction killed off most of the women in a galaxy far, far away is still ravaging the species as Felicity Jones is the lone lady in this gang.

Yes she”s the lead. But one woman is a pretty terrible ratio.
