Metric, whose CD, “Fantasies” is sure to make some best-of lists come the end of the year, will start a new U.S. tour on Nov. 16 at Town Ballroom in Buffalo, N.Y. If you haven’t checked out Metric yet, seeing them live is a treat (Hey, they were good enough to open for the Rolling Stones, they should be good enough for you). The co-ed band, formed in Toronto, delivers fun, quirky, synth-heavy pop rock.
Like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, Metric has decided the grass is greener on the independent side; Metric self-released “Fantasies,” following a stint on EMI. “Help, I’m Alive,” the first single from “Fantasies,” has hit the top 20 on Mediabase’s alternative music chart. The achievement is a rare one, to be picked up by alternative and rock stations with no label support.
Rising stars Band of Skulls will open. The U.K. trio is having a big fall: ittune, Friends,” will be on the “New Moon” soundtrack.
