Miley Cyrus drops ‘And Her Dead Petz’ album and a trippy video for ‘Dooo It!’ post VMAs

After hosting the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards Miley Cyrus released a video for the song that closed the show, “Dooo It!”  Oh, wait. That's not all. Cyrus actually released an entire album entitled “Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz” which contains 23 new songs.  It's currently not available for purchase, but can be streamed on soundcloud and her official website.  At this point, it seems as though Cyrus is releasing the album for free.

An introspective work inspired by the passing of her favorite dog, 10 of the album's tracks were either co-written or produced by The Flaming Lips.  In an interview with the New York Times, Cyrus credits Flames frontman Wayne Coyne as being her artistic mentor on the album.  The release is an exercise in Cyrus' artistic freedom and isn't part of her contract with RCA Records. As she told the Times, “This music was not meant to be a rebellion,” she said. “It was meant to be a gift.”

There are some familiar names who stop by, however, including Big Sean on “Tangerine” and Ariel Pink on “Tiger Dreams.”  Some of the other standout tracks upon first listens include “Karen Don't Be Sad,” “BB Talk,” “1 Sun” and the strangely moving “Pablow the Blowfish.”

You can check out the orally fixated video for “Dooo It!” embedded in the post.
