By winning female vocalist of the year at the ACM Awards Sunday night, Miranda set a record for grabbing the award five years in a row. As thrilled as she was when she came backstage (she also won single record of the year for “Mama's Broken Heart” and vocal event of the year for “We Were Us” with Keith Urban), when she got to the press room, she had an apology to make.
Lambert was upset that she forgot to mention her fellow female vocalist of the year Taylor Swift in her acceptance speech: As she says in the below video, “I always try to acknowledge everybody in any category that I ever win anything in because I know we all work our ass off, we do, we all do, we give 110% all year long, especially Taylor. She's kind of like her own animal, she's ridiculous.”
She revealed how she had to “fight” to record “Mama's Broken Heart,” which ended up winning single of the year. Lambert also discusses how her collaboration, “We Were Us,” with Urban came about and how they go way back and what she's learned from him, as well as her forthcoming album, “Platinum,” and how Shelton helped her bring out her sense of humor on the June set. As she says, “I've still got a lot of sassy on it.”
