‘Mr. Mercedes’: Stephen King best seller to become TV series

It may seem impossible, but not every Stephen King book has been turned into a TV show or movie yet. The latest project for the hyper-prolific author comes with Mr. Mercedes getting a 10-episode order from Audience Network.

Mr. Mercedes is a 2014 novel from King which focuses on a killer who harasses a retired detective. The book went on to become a New York Times best seller and earned the 2015 Edgar Award for Best Novel. Mr. Mercedes is part of a book trilogy. The second of the three, Finders Keepers, came out in 2015. End of the Watch is slated to come out in June 2016.

The series will feature Brendan Gleeson and Anton Yelchin, this according to THR.com. It will be headed up by David E. Kelley, the Emmy-winner and man behind such shows as Ally McBeal and Boston Legal.

King”s adaptations for both the big screen and small screen are too numerous to mention, nearing 100 projects over his storied (pun intended) career. Hulu”s 11.22.63 and Spike TV”s upcoming project The Mist are just the latest.

Mr. Mercedes will hit the air in 2018.
