Who made the better entrance – Nicki Minaj or Ariana Grande?
Both pop divas were literally lowered onto the stage at tonight's MTV EMAs in Glasgow, Scotland, which unfortunately lacked the controversy of last year's show – who could forget the “shocking” moment when Miley Cyrus appeared to smoke a joint on stage – but nevertheless delivered a solid lineup of stars including U2, Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys, Charli XCX and Ozzy Osbourne, who went home with the night's Global Icon Award.
As for the awards themselves, the night's top winner was U.K. pop quintet One Direction with three wins including Best Pop and Biggest Fans, while Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds of Summer and Katy Perry took home two trophies a piece.
