New trailer asks Robocop to fight emotions and bad guys

This morning we have a new international trailer for the upcoming remake, “Robocop.” The film, which is being distributed by Columbia Pictures here in the States, arrives all over the world early next year.
This new look at the movie offers up, perhaps, a far more dramatic feel than some of the action-oriented takes we have seen so far. It also eschews some of the corporate greed storyline we have seen before. That element isn’t gone completely, but it certainly takes a backseat to issues of how Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) deals with his newfound robotic prowess and questions surrounding his family.
Also not completely gone from the trailer is the notion that this is in fact an action movie. Click that play button and you’ll get to see things blown up and guns get fired and Robocop battle robot, which is exactly what most people would expect when the head to the theaters to see the movie.
For those curious, the synopsis of the film is as follows: “In ‘RoboCop,’ the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.”
The new movie is directed by José Padilha and starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L Jackson, and Abbie Cornish.
“Robocop” is gunning for a February 12, 2014 release date, are you excited for the sequel?
