New ‘Wonder Woman’ logo, updated cast list, and first official photo

While speculation over the cast of “Wonder Woman” has been circulating the internet for months, Warner Bros. set the record straight this weekend by announcing the official cast for the upcoming standalone film, aptly titled “Wonder Woman”.

According the press release, (in addition to previously confirmed lead actress Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins), Chris Pine has been officially confirmed to be playing Captain Steve Trevor. A photo of him from the set of “Wonder Woman” was released a few weeks ago via Instagram, but this is the first time Warner Bros. has officially confirmed his role as Steve Trevor.

While Nicole Kidman was previously in negotiations to play an Amazonian warrior in “Wonder Woman”, it would appear that Robin Wright (“House of Cards”) has signed on for the role in Kidman's place. This could mean Wright will be channeling some of Claire Underwood's fierceness by playing Diana's mother, Queen of the Amazons.

The first official photo of Gal Gadot in “Wonder Woman” debuted over the weekend, as well as Diana's official logo. Comicbook.com discovered the new logo via merchandising retailer, Graphitti Designs. The logo features the classic “WW” symbol in embossed, golden-metallic lettering, which is reminiscent of the golden crest on Diana's armor from the first official photo of her from “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”.

The character will make her big screen debut this spring in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” but the new film will mark her first time headlining a feature.

The film also stars Chris Pine (the “Star Trek” films) as Captain Steve Trevor, Robin Wright (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” Netflix”s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (“Clash of the Titans,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”), David Thewlis (the “Harry Potter” films, “The Theory of Everything”), Ewen Bremner (“Exodus: Gods and Kings,” “Snowpiercer”), Saïd Taghmaoui (“American Hustle”), Elena Anaya (“The Skin I Live In”) and Lucy Davis (“Shaun of the Dead”).
