No fate but what we make: looking back at ‘Terminator 2’ on its 25th anniversary

Terminator 2: Judgement Day is one of the few film sequels audiences can agree was as good, if not better, than the original. Today just happens to be the 25th anniversary of its release. Let's take a look back at the majesty.

Terminator 2, released July 3, 1991, is one of my all-time favorite films. I even have a “No Fate” tattoo! I'm not one to keep track of milestones like this but seeing as how Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a video titled “T2 at 25” I was compelled to join in the celebration. Beware: there's some silliness here.

Co-written, produced, and directed by James Cameron, the highlight of Terminator 2 for me was always Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor. Besides Alien's Ripley, there weren't really any characters like her back then so I immediately latched on. She had a meaningful and powerful impact on me.

The Stan Winston School has a few great videos about the visual effects, which remarkably still hold up to today's standards.

And here's a cool one of the film's visual effects win at the Oscars in 1992.

Happy 25th, Terminator 2!
