“Reaper” may be in renewal limbo for next season, but Tyler Labine is working on his contingency plans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Labine has been cast in the lead role in FOX’s comedy pilot “Sons of Tucson.”

The pilot focuses on three boys who hire a thirtysomething burnout (Labine) to pose as their father while their real dad is in jail.

Labine is currently playing Sock on The CW’s “Reaper,” which premiered its second season last week. The supernatural comedy would be in first position for the “Invasion” veteran, should it receive a pick-up this May, so don’t start panicking, “Reaper” fans. If The CW wants the show back, Sock will be back as well.

In other FOX casting, “The West Wing” Emmy winner Richard Schiff has joined the network’s drama “The Reincarnationist” (almost certain to be a temporary title), playing a legendary scientist in the field of reincarnation.

Over on CBS, Drake Bell, of “Drake & Josh” fame, will play the lead in the comedy “The Fish Tank,” about a teenager living alone in his family’s house.

Also at CBS, Eion Bailey and Kristin Bauer have been cast in the drama “House Rules,” about the freshman class of Congress. Both will play nearly elected representatives.
