Having made her dwindling fanbase suffer through “New in Town,” “Appaloosa” and “Miss Potter,” Renee Zellweger has received a gift from the movie gods:  Working Title is developing a third “Bridget Jones” movie.

The project is in the early stages, but Variety reports the project will probably be based on the 2005 weekly columns original author Helen Fiedling  wrote where the forty-something Bridget attempts to have a baby before it’s too late.  According to the trade, Zellweger, whose biggest hit recently has been voicing a CG animated character in “Bee Movie, seems keen on returning to the unlucky in love British publishing executive.

The first installment, “Bridget Jones Diary,” was a critical and box office smash with over $281 million worldwide.  The sequel, “Bridget Jones: The Edge or Reason,” was a disappointment domestically, but made up for it overseas where it helped raise the overall gross to $262 million.

Zellweger will next be seen in the long delayed “Case 39” and has the indie comedy “My Own Love Song” in the can, but without a domestic distributor.

Working Title hopes to have the new “Bridget Jones” in production by the end of 2010 for a 2011 release.
