In a development that's only surprising in that it took so long, the Internet has given us a mash-up of Adult Swim's “Rick and Morty” and the trailer to “Back to the Future” from the distant past of 1985:
Of course, “Rick and Morty” began life as a much more explicit – in every possible way – spoof called “The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti,” with the characters also voiced by “Rick and Morty” co-creator Justin Roiland:
Roiland's co-creator on the series Dan Harmon has talked about the ways they pivoted from the original idea into the version now seen on Adult Swim. The second season (which I discussed with Harmon and Roiland) has been a treat, particularly “Total Rickall,” a very different kind of spoof of sitcom clip show episodes.
