Scarlett Johansson evolves in trailer for Luc Besson’s ‘Lucy’

Yesterday we got our first look at Scarlett Johansson in Luc Besson”s upcoming film, “Lucy,” and now we have the first trailer, too.  With Besson as the writer/director and Johansson as the star, it won”t in any way be a surprise for you to find out that the trailer included here features some pretty great action.

The film finds Lucy (Johansson) becoming a fearsome fighter due to the release of some sort of drug into her system, but she gets more than just fighting abilities from the drug, Lucy also gets super smart.  The trailer does a good job showing us not only said fighting prowess, but her increased intelligence as well.

About halfway through the two and a half minute trailer, Morgan Freeman offers this sentiment and explains a lot about what is happening to Lucy in the movie, “It is estimated most human beings only use 10% of the brain”s capacity.  Imagine if we could access 100%, interesting things begin to happen.”  We are told that Lucy doesn”t, at least initially, have access to 100%, but she gets her powers/intelligence by having increased access, access that may only grow over time.  But, naturally, there seems to be a downside as well – she may be losing what makes her human.

As for the trailer itself, it is stylish and beautiful to look at.  But, don”t take our word for it, watch it yourself and tell use what you think – are you excited for “Lucy?”

Written and directed by Besson, the film hits theaters August 8th.
