FOX has given a 13-episode pickup to “Bordertown,” a new animated comedy from the network’s patron saint, Seth MacFarlane.
“Bordertown,” ordered late Friday (November 8) afternoon, was actually created by “Family Guy” veteran Mark Hentemann, with MacFarlane executive producing. Alex Carter and Dan Vebber will co-executive produce the 20th Century Fox TV series.
Set in a fictional border town — hence, you know, the name — “Bordertown” focuses on neighbors Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzalez. Bud is, of course, a Border Patrol agent, married with three kids and feeling threatened by the cultural changes in his country. Ernesto is, of course, a Mexican immigrant and father of four, trying to live the American Dream. Bud and Ernesto’s paths and the paths of their families intersect. Hilarity presumably ensues. But perhaps not.
“Bordertown” will premiere on FOX at some point in the 2014-2015 season.
Seth MacFarlane’s currently series haul on FOX includes “Family Guy,” “American Dad,” the live-action “Dads,” which was recently given a full-season order, as well as the unscheduled miniseries “Cosmos.”
