“SNL” announcer Don Pardo dies at 96 after a 70-year NBC career
An NBC announcer since June 15, 1944, Pardo introduced nearly every “Saturday Night Live” episode — he missed Season 7 and, when he was ill, Darrell Hammond filled in for him. Pardo also once got to hit on James Van Der Beek. He also was the first to announce on NBC that John F. Kennedy had been shot. PLUS: Lorne Michaels reacts: “I don't know what I'll do.
