In yet another major blow to what little street cred he’s got left, West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg is now looking to star in his own TV sitcom.
Dogg, Warner Bros. and “My Wife and Kids” creator Don Reo are currently developing a family comedy that would see the multi-platinum artist starring as the father. The rapper previously worked with Reo when he guest-starred on an episode of the producer’s short-lived Fox sitcom “Brothers” starring Michael Strahan.
Snoop Dogg is no stranger to the TV world, with his most notable venture on the small-screen being the reality series “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood”, which ran from 2007-2008 on the E! Channel. In 2002 he produced and starred in “Doggy Fizzle Televizzle”, a sketch-comedy show that enjoyed a brief eight-episode stint on MTV. More recently he participated in the Donald Trump Roast on Comedy Central.
With the amount of money he must have stored away (his net worth is valued at over $100 million), the rapper depressingly still seems willing to attach himself to basically any project (or product) that will have him. Of course, given that his most recent album “Doggumentary” has sold only 80,000 copies in the U.S. since its March debut (a far cry from his “Doggystyle” days), perhaps it’s no wonder he’s turning to other ventures.
