Never has a film franchise been summed up quite as brilliantly as “The Expendables” franchise is summed up in the first line of the new trailer. Trust us.
Right there at the outset of the trailer, Sylvester Stallone is asked, “So, our plan is to kick down the door and start spraying bullets?” Stallone responds in the affirmative and then, to prove the point, virtually the rest of the trailer offers flying bullets, thrown punches, and a few explosions just for good measure. Plus, there are a few one-liners.
That is what “The Expendables” is – your favorite action stars blowing things up in big action sequences. Each film seems to repeatedly raise the ante across the board, from stars to explosions to everything else.
The third film continues in that mold and features returning “Expendables” favorites along with a new crop of characters. Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren are all back for this outing, and they've added Wesley Snipes, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, Kelsey Grammer, Ronda Rousey, and more to the cast. That doesn't even cover everyone (like Terry Crews), but it's a start.

“The Expendables 3” is directed by Patrick Hughes and opens in theaters on August 15. It will see Stallone's Barney Ross square off against old adversary Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson). Oh, and this time, it's personal.
