Taika Waititi is making a ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ TV spin-off

After watching What We Do in the Shadows, once you picked yourself up from the floor where you had keeled over laughing, quick probably the next thing you did was thought to yourself was, “Okay, when can I see more supernatural comedy from these guys?”

Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi already teased a sequel to their vampire mockumentary called We”re Wolves about, yes, the movie”s werewolves (not swear-wolves). Now they”re also making a spin-off called Paranormal Event Response Unit – which Waititi somehow found time for in the midst of filming the new Thor movie and releasing his charming indie The Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

According to a release from New Zealand On Air, which is funding the series, Paranormal Event Response Unit will be a procedural that follows naive police officers Karen and Mike (who had small roles in What We Do in the Shadows) working hard to protect Wellington”s residents from supernatural beings lurking in the New Zealand capital.

It”ll be difficult to live up What We Do in the Shadows, but with Clement and Waititi teaming up again, I”m going to trust this is worth looking forward to.
