Taye Diggs, who is currently starring in TNT's Murder in the First, will appear in the third season of Empire this fall. According to TVLine, Diggs will have a recurring role as Angelo Dubois, an Obama-like political figure and “a city councilman hailing from a respected and affluent New York family.”
Diggs' character emphasizes “community organizing and local politics” and though there hasn't been many more details released, it's hard to believe that he won't end up a love interest for Cookie because, well, it's Taye Diggs.
Empire has already had an impressive roster of guest stars and season three will add French Montana, Sierre McClain, and others. The third season premieres on Fox on September 21.
