Tell us what you thought of ‘Gone Girl’

David Fincher's hotly anticipated Gillian Flynn adaptation “Gone Girl” has finally arrived in theaters after a New York Film Festival debut last weekend. I didn't find myself as taken as some of my colleagues, though I do have an urge to see it again. So I may actually head out to a Saturday matinee myself.

But with the film out there in the world, we'd love to hear what the readership thinks. I'm particularly curious how this will unfold for people who have read the book versus people who haven't, as well as people like me, who haven't read the book but knew what was coming. There's a lot to chew on here, and at the box office, it could become an absolute smash. That would sure help out any forthcoming Oscar campaign.

So have at it. Loved it? Hated it? Somewhere in between? What did you think of “it” girl of the moment, Rosamund Pike? Did Ben Affleck surprise you? Where does this fit into Fincher's own canon? Have your say in the comments below, and as ever, feel free to vote in our poll.
