When we last left The Flash, Barry was dedicated to finding a way to prevent Iris’ death. So, Barry decides to solve his problems with time travel. Again. And it goes horribly wrong. Again. It’s almost like time travel is a terrible idea!
This episode is, believe it or not, a riff on an episode from the 1990 series, where Barry went forward in time and discovered his brother’s killer had taken over Central City. This time, however, Barry goes eight years into the future to discover that basically the whole team’s been paralyzed, either psychologically or literally, in Wally’s case, because it’s not a dystopic future unless somebody’s in a wheelchair or otherwise disabled. Or for that matter has an emo haircut. Barry will need to figure out what happened, who Savitar is, and maybe finally get it through his head that this was all a very bad idea.
This also kicks off the remaining run through the end of the season for the show. It’ll be interesting to see how it wraps up its run this season, which has had its ups and downs, mostly due to the fact that Barry can’t seem to put it together that time travel causes all his problems.
