The most addictive theme song ever: 1990’s ‘Monopoly’ game show

Twenty-five years ago, Merv Griffin (who would've turned 90 a few days ago) tried turning Monopoly into a game show. Was the show a success? Absolutely not. Was the theme song a total earworm that will infect your whole life? Definitely.

Check out “Monopoly,” which used a cool light-up version of the original board. Players answered crossword-type clues to earn the chance to move along the properties. It's so early '90s! And it's not too fun.

Now listen to the unbelievable theme song which has been in my head since I first heard it in 1990. M-O-N-O-P-O-L-Y! It is pure dork power.

Makes you feel like bankruptcy, jail time, and failed visits to the Community Chest are a great big party. MONOPOLY!
