Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg re-teaming for ‘Daddy’s Home’

“The Other Guys” co-stars Ferrell and Wahlberg are reuniting for what could be the funniest custody battle since “Kramer vs. Kramer.”

The duo, who first teamed for the 2010 comedy hit “Guys,” are set to star in the upcoming comedy “Daddy's Home” for Paramount Pictures and Red Granite Pictures.

Ferrell will play a mid-level radio executive desperate to win the affection of his two stepkids, and facing major competition from the kids' biological father (Wahlberg), who's equal parts free spirit and freeloader.

“Home” is happening fast, and is aiming to start shooting before the end of the year. It will likely be released sometime in 2015.

The script was originally written by Brian Burns (“Blue Bloods”), but was re-written by a team of comedy vets, including Sean Anders and John Morris (“Horrible Bosses 2”), “The Other Guys” co-writers Chris Henchy and Adam McKay, and Etan Cohen (“Tropic Thunder”). Anders (“Horrible Bosses 2”) is also directing.

Ferrell, Henchy and McKay are producing through their Gary Sanchez Productions banner, along with Morris.

“Will and Mark are the absolute perfect on-screen duo to take on this hilarious project,” Paramount president Adam Goodman said in a press release. “With Anders at the helm, and our partners Red Granite on-board, we are thrilled this movie is getting underway.”

“We're particularly excited not only to reunite with the wonderful Paramount team but to collaborate again with the comical genius of Sean Anders and John Morris, who we had the pleasure of working with on 'Dumb and Dumber To,'” Red Granite Pictures's Riza Aziz added. “And we are thrilled to partner with Will, Mark and Gary Sanchez. We look forward to an inspiring, hilarious adventure.”

Wahlberg is building award season buzz for his upcoming film “The Gambler,” while Will Ferrell will soon be seen opposite Kristen Wiig in “Welcome to Me.”
