In their 26 seasons on the air, “The Simpsons” have seemingly parodied just about everything… twice. But then something new comes along and, of course, they”re bound to go after that too. Their new target, Richard Linklater”s Oscar-nominated film “Boyhood.”
According to THR, show creator Matt Groening and EP Al Jean announced at their Comic-Con panel today (July 11) that Bart will be at the center of an episode called “Barthood” — a send-up of the coming-of-age film shot over 12 years — for their Christmas episode.
Because of the age range involved, Nancy Cartwright notes it was a real challenge performing as Bart. “This one was tough because… he was 2, 6, 13 and 14,” she says.
It”s been an interesting few months for the long-running animated series. In May, Harry Shearer (who voices Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders and others) quit the show in a contract dispute. But he”s since made up and is signed on for two more seasons.
“The Simpsons” returns for their 27th season on September 27.
