The Snap: Where Is Our Song of the Summer?

It's May. And you know what we don't have? A song of the summer. By this time in 2010 it was already abundantly clear that “California Gurls” was going to dominate the Fourth of July. In 2012, “Call Me Maybe” was already owning U.S. charts by May. And in 2013, “Blurred Lines” had taken over radio well before the solstice.

So what's 2014 got in store for us?

In this edition of THE SNAP, I analyze new tracks from Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Ariana Grande, One Direction, Calvin Harris, Mariah Carey, and more. And it's not looking good, lambs.
