I've been getting definite Goodnight Mommy vibes from the forthcoming French sci-fi/horror film Evolution, about a 10-year-old boy (Max Brebant) living on an island populated only by women and boys who begins to question the nature of his existence after discovering a dead body in the ocean. In my fall horror movie preview last month I wrote that the film is “intriguing in its mythical outlines,” and the first American trailer positively drips with foreboding as we get a better glimpse of the creepy hospital where the boys are subjected to a mysterious medical treatment. Shiver shiver.
