The wait for Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Hateful Eight’ just got shorter

If you”re counting down the days until Quentin Tarantino”s next film comes to your town, you may be able to take a few days off that countdown right now.

The roadshow release of “The Hateful Eight” in 70mm will still begin on Christmas Day. But now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the wide release of the movie”s 35mm and digital versions has moved from January 8 to New Year”s Day. After the January 1 opening in multiplexes, the film will then broaden its release even wider on January 8.

“The Hateful Eight,” a Western set some years after the Civil War, reunites Tarantino with Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell and Bruce Dern and also stars Demián Bichir and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The film has gotten much buzz for its feat of a 70mm release that will show off cinematography by frequent Tarantino collaborator Robert Richardson.
